Facilities at Banbury
This page shows some of the facilities at the new Cherwell Business
Village location. In addition to what is shown here, there are
toilets, a kitchen, cafe and additional meeting rooms which we can
use. (You can click on some of the images to get a larger picture.)
This page now gives you a "virtual tour" of the centre and offers
an introduction to the contents of the archive. We will walk through
it to see what is available.
The archive is now distributed as follows:
- Plan Room - cabinet storage area, principally the 46 steel drawing
chests and smaller filing cabinets. The drawing index and rolls are
now also within this single large space, so more easily accessible
for study.
- Study Room - houses the former contents of the Des O'Dell and
Norman Garrad rooms. This includes the collection of competition
oriented items and also an extensive set of photographic
negatives. It also now includes all the microfiche, magazines,
books, projection and photographic equipment and several book
cases. Drawings can easily be moved into this area for study or
copying.
- Shop/ Foyer - we use this space to house special exhibits and it
acts as the main meeting point and shop area. It also has some
framed photographs and the New Devonshire House plaque
un-veiled by Lord Rootes at Westcott on 1st July 2005. Exhibits
include the cut away Imp engine produced by Rootes
apprentices and 1500cc Hunter display engine.
- Board Room - has the board room table and chairs from the
original Devonshire House, Picadilly, London. This is reserved for
ARCC Club meetings and also houses books, magazines and club
information in original book cases. Note that the heating is
connected to the rest of the building.
- Loos and kitchen - self explanatory. These are now in the shared
space outside the Archive Centre and accessible from the corridor to
the right. There are also separate meeting rooms available and a
presentation suite within this wing of the building.
Please leave a contribution towards the cost of tea, coffee or
biscuits in the box provided. Please leave the loos and kitchen
clean and tidy as they are shared facilities.
