The Imp Collection

Abstract:

This document provides a report on the historical contents in the Rootes Archive Centre and The Imp Club Ltd. pertaining to the manufacturing of the Hillman Imp and its variants and its use by the works for prototype development and competition purposes. The archive contains drawings and other engineering department and factory production records from 1961-1975. We provide here simply a factual listing of the archive holdings, other reflections on the historical and social implications of the Imp car production are merely referenced, but many books and magazine articles are available on the subject in addition to the Imp Club's own monthly magazine, Impressions.

This document is available from the Rootes Archive Centre Web site at http://tardis.dl.ac.uk/ARCC/Imp/drawings/index.html. A PDF format copy of this document can be obtained from http://tardis.dl.ac.uk/ARCC/Imp/drawings.pdf. You probably won't want to print it as there are over 200 pages, but it is searchable with a suitable PDF reader.
