The Juniper Farm is tucked away just off Jn. 21 on the M6
intersection with Manchester Road (the A57). This is on the eastern side of
the motorway (south bound) but there is a bridge across and a large
roundabout on each side. There is a Mercedes-Smart garage next
door. Directions are given on the Web site.
The venue offers plenty of parking space and a good choice of pub food and carvery plus a selection of ales and other beverages and helpful staff.
Juniper Farm was formerly known by locals as Mascrat Manor, apparently after the area named Martinscroft, and was re-furbished and re-branded by Greene King in Autumn 2016. Home made cakes are a speciality together with the all-day carvery and a novel in-house ice cream parlour.
Woolston's spelling has changed several times having previously been Wulston, Wulstone, Wolston and even Ousten. A map by Ogilby showed two villages within the bounds of the present Woolston. One was Mascrat (the local pronunciation for Martinscroft), and the other Fistleton Green, in which were two rows of houses, near to the site of the present, Weir Lane, where the Mersey fishermen lived.
The Imp Club meets here on the 2nd wednesday of each month at 8pm.
