Interior Plates

Below are a series of interior plates of the Organ.

The lower portion of the case removed showing the Mecvent suction motor.
console

This is a view of the Swell wind chest. The reservoir normally sits on top of the chest and is secured by the clips along the edge. The tremulant mechanism is clearly visable in the photograph. Drawing the tremulant stop closes the long valve at the front of the chest, tha air normally flows through this valve. When it is closed, the vacuum lifts the square flap at the back of the chest, which returns uner the force of a carefully adjusted weight mounted on the end of the spring. The valve opens and closes at regular intervals causing a vibrato effect throughout the Swell.
console

The organ from the side. The right stop jamb has been completely removed and the side of the case taken off. The picture shows the stop levers, combination action and balanced swell action.
console

The back of the organ during tuning and servicing.
console

The right stop jamb from above. You can see the pins which protrude from the stop shanks and which are acted upon by the combination action.
console

The pedal action is constructed of metal instead of wood, this prevents levers from binding and notes from sticking on. The action is light and quick working, and is extremely reliable. The metal fingers sit underneath the ends of the pedal keys when the pedalboard is in position.
console

The bottom half of the organ with the front casework removed. The motor is shown next to the Great reservoir which is only half-width to allow room for the motor. The portion of lighter coloured ply-wood screwed to the front of the reservoir is removeable and allows access to a valve which closes off the main wind trunk from the motor when the reservoirs become emptied of all their air.
console

The organ with both manuals removed for servicing. The black metal bar which extends the width of the manuals controlls the Swell to Great coupler device. The Sub bass wires and action can be seen at the bass end of the chest towards the back. The Sub bass reeds are controlled from the Pedal trackers which run up the back of the action to the Manual to Pedal coupler actions.
console

The Great manual after removal from the organ. The metal rods which extend from the 30 lowest keys engage with the Great to Pedal coupler action. Those particular 30 keys are weighted at their front ends so as to cause no difference in the weight of touch. All of the keys are center mounted, the white leather strips are where the Swell to Great coupler "drumsticks" rest.
